Presenter: Helen Bersten OAM
HELEN BERSTEN, OAM, was Honorary Archivist of the Australian Jewish Historical Society for thirty-two years, retiring at the end of May 2011; however, she has remained on the Journal editorial committee, assisting with proofreading as well as doing the occasional book review. She was a research librarian in Fisher Library at Sydney University from 1964 until 1970. During that time, she spent two years in the University’s Rare Book Library. She worked very briefly in the Zionist Federation Library in 1972. She also spent six weeks cataloguing books in the Falk Library in the 1980s. She received her OAM in 2005 for volunteer services as Archivist.
Helen is currently working on the history of the Sydney Chevra Kadisha with Professor Emerita Suzanne Rutland and Gary Luke.
